The acetate activating enzyme system of heart muscle.

چکیده
Nachmansohn and Machado (1) discovered a soluble enzyme system in extracts of brain tissue which catalyzed the formation of active acetate in the presence of ATPI and CoA. Active acetate was detected by the acetylation of choline. Later Lipmann (2, 3) reported an enzyme system in extracts of pigeon liver which catalyzed the CoA and ATP-dependent acetylation of sulfanilamide by acetate. The identification of active acetate as acetyl CoA by Lynen et al. (4) opened the way for a systematic study of the acetate activation system. The present investigation2 deals with the properties of a system prepared from heart muscle of pig or rabbit which catalyzes the over-all basic reaction,

Effects of dietary lead acetate and aluminosilicates on the antioxidative defense system of broilers’ muscle tissues
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of dietary supplements with lead acetate and aluminosilicates (ATN) on antioxidative enzyme activities and lipid peroxidation of the heart and skeletal muscle tissues of broiler chickens. Broilers were allotted to four diets including the control group, the Pb group, the aluminosilicate-ATN (antitoxic nutrient) group and the Pb+ATN group, i...
متن کاملStudy of prophenoloxidase activating system of freshwater crayfish (Pontastacus leptodactylus)
Phenoloxidase (Po) activity was measusred spectrophotometrically in serum, plasma and haemocytes (HLS) of the freshwater crayfish (Pontastacus leptodactylus). The highest activity was found in HLS suggesting that the haemocytes are the major source of the Po or its proform prophenoloxidase (proPO) in crayfish. Furthermore, the enzyme activity in serum samples was reduced after freezing the samp...

متن کاملThe effects of alkali metal ions on the acetate activating enzyme system.
The preparation and properties of an acetate activating enzyme’ from animal tissues have been described by Beinert et al. (1). In that work it had been noted that the sodium ion is a potent inhibitor of acetyl CoA formation in the acetate-ATP reaction. Nachmansohn and John (2) reported stimulation of the choline-acetylating system by potassium ion, while Korey et al. (3) reported the inhibition...
متن کاملStudies of the biological function of vitamin E. II. The nature of the specific activating effect of tocopherol in aged preparations of cytochrome reductases.
Recent work has indicated that evidence supporting a role for tocopherol in electron transport should be re-evaluated. The direct demonstration of the inhibitory nature of solvents on enzymes of the respiratory chain (1) and nonspecific restoration of this activity by various lipids (2, 3) are the major objections to studies which employed isooctane extraction. However, other evidence based on ...
